Tamil cinema has seen a record number of releases in 2010. 150 Tamil films released in the year out of which we are listing the top 10 grossers. The list has been compiled from trade sources in distribution and exhibition.
Please note the highest grossing film need not be the most profitable.
A film that may gross big, may not be as profitable if the cost of production and promotions are high. A small film made on a decent budget becoming a hit may be more profitable based on Return on Investments (ROI).
The estimated box-office revenue figures mentioned are approximate and put together from Indian domestic theatrical collections, overseas, audio, home video and television rights and other sources. It need not be exactly correct and may vary. A film which collects two or more times its budget is a blockbuster.
